Breaking News: Barcelona Coach To Undergo Surgery For Appendicitis

Latest reports from Spain indicate that recently appointed
Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique has been rushed to a hospital to
undergo surgery on Monday afternoon.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the 44-year-
old was rushed to an emergency room in serious discomfort before
undergoing tests that confirmed that he is suffering from
appendicitis..
Enrique, who played for the Spanish giants between 1996 and
2004, was appointed as the club's first team manager on a two-
year deal last month.
It was gathered that the Spaniard will have routine surgery to
remove his appendix, which is unlikely to keep him out of action for
too long.
It is believe he could leave hospital after just 24 hours if the
procedure is a success and there are no complications.
The former Celta Vigo boss will be keen to get back to work as
soon as possible in order for him to continue to shape the Catalans
ahead of the new season.
Few days ago, defenders, Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano,
signed new deals to stay at the club, while Sevilla midfielder Ivan
Rakitic is believed to be closing in on a move to the Nou Camp.
Enrique looks likely to be without Cesc Fabregas next season as
Chelsea continue their pursuit of the £30million-rated star.
Meanwhile, Barcelona's official club website has posted that
Enrique's emergency surgery for acute appendicitis has been
successful and the 44-year-old is expected to be released from
hospital in the next day or so.
The news states:
FC Bacelona's coach, Luis Enrique Martinez, has had an
emergency operation for acute appendicitis. The surgery was
successful and he will be discharged in the next day or so.
The new coach started at the Club on May 21, and has since
been working intensely with his collaborators on the
configuration of the Barça squad for next season. Barça
2014/15 are due to be back at training on July 14th.
It could be recalled that penultimate Barcelona coach, Tito
Vilanova, died on 25 April, at the age of 45 after a prolonged battle
against cancer .
